In 1972, DL Smith Electric was created when DL bought a small one-man electrical contracting firm, located at 1935 ½ Gage. The company rapidly grew through the decades by consistently listening to the customers. DL Smith Electric moved to it’s current location in 1982. The company was about to expand it’s client base and experience through the 80’s and 90’s. In the late 90’s, the company established itself within into the healthcare, industrial, and energy markets, while expanding in the traditional commercial markets as well.
In 1997, DL Smith Electric began a complimentary company to support the growing demand for high-tech telecommunications and audio-visual industry. DL Smith Communications provided structured cabling fiber and copper solutions,business telephone systems, CCTV, security and card access systems, and audio-visual systems customers. DL Smith Communications was renamed Alltech Communications in 2006, to help expand and develop a larger market share throughout the Midwest.
DL Smith Electric has consistently provided a safe work environment for their employees. We have an industry-leading safety record and drug-free workplace policy, to ensure both our employees and customers are well taken care of.
We were one of the first in the industry to initiate mandatory drug testing for prospective and current employees. Our Experience Modification Rate, which is used to measure our overall safety performance, for the last several years has varied from .67-.79 which is well below the industry average of 1.0.
Our Total Recordable Incident Rates have always averaged well below our industry benchmarks. We continually strive within the company to achieve and maintain a Zero Incident Rate.
